Responding to God’s call from the business world in 1992 to full-time vocational ministry, i joined the staff of First Baptist Church of West Palm Beach, Florida, serving as the associate pastor of administration and global mission. In 2004, God led my wife, LaVonne, our two teenagers and me on a Genesis 12 journey, that resulted in my serving with the International Mission Board (IMB) of the Southern Baptist Convention. From 2006 until 2015, i served as the vice president of church and partner services of IMB, assisting churches across the US in mobilizing their members to make disciples of all peoples. Most recently, i served as the senior associate pastor of Grove Avenue Baptist Church in Richmond, Virginia. Today that Genesis 12 journey continues as i labor as a bond-servant of the Lord Jesus Christ in the proclamation of the gospel to the end that every person may be presented complete in Christ. The Lessons Learned In The Wilderness series is a collection of the lessons God has taught (and continues to teach) me and my family throughout our day-to-day journey with Him.Genres

The Journey Begins - Lessons Learned In The Wilderness (Book 1)
God's plan for our lives is not static; He is continuously calling us to draw closer, to climb higher and to move further. In that process, He is moving us out of our comfort zone to His land of promise for our lives. That process includes time in the wilderness. Many times it is easier to see the truth that God is teaching us through the lives of others than it is through our own lives.
The Journey Begins is the first book in the Lessons Learned In The Wilderness series. It chronicles those stories, those examples and those truths as revealed through the lives and experiences of the Israelites, as recorded in the Book of Exodus.
We then apply those same truths to our own life journey as the Lord God Jehovah leads us through our own wilderness journey.
